Aug 08 MUSIC BANK Live Performance.

though this performance is rather old, but it's too good not to be posted. singing alongside tablo and mithra jin of epik high, the band's disbanding rumour has been circulating like fire recently. apparently tablo, who just released a book (Pieces of You), thinks his band is too underrated, which i totally agree..

tablo loves to tease younha of being short and tiny, but he's not too tall himself too. lol.

a song ''came to life''..

i was listening to Epik High's '우산 (Usan) Umbrella [feat. Younha]' when it suddenly rained while listening to the song.

well, it may sound nothing special, but if you listened to the song, pattering of rain made up the background sound effect throughout the song, and the song is somewhat related to rain and umbrella (duh). so i was very surprise to hear pattering of rain even after the song ended, by then i realised it was also raining outside.

to me, the sensation was great. it felt as though the song i like very much has come to life.
what a coincidence, or is it?

listen to the song. it's fantastic. whenever there are epik high and younha, there will be brilliant music.

i was taking a nap in the afternoon, when i dreamt that i was abt to meet younha..

it happened so fast..
i was at a concert hall awaiting the singer's arrival for a performance, after a long wait, the crews started thronging in..
but before the singer's arrival, i woke up.

cliche "i realised it was a dream" story? but that really did happened.
& i thought i really going to see her and get her autograph..

guess i have step back onto earth and continue to focus on my 'O's. haha..

During the recording, Kim Dong Wan and Younha performed a song together to couples who were going to get married soon in the segment aptly called “just married”. They reprised the duet song of “Something Stupid” which was performed by Robbie Williams and Nicole Kidman in 2002 and showed perfect chemistry, winning the applause from the couples and audience.

The conversion part was about Making a comeback with her 2nd album, Younha talked about her special connection to Kim Dongwan. Both appearing on SBS Kim Jung Eun's Chocolate, they talked about their encounter as radio DJ and listener.

Kim Dongwan was hosting MBC Radio's Ten Ten Club back in 2002, and Younha - who had yet to make her debut then, sent in a letter to congratulate her seniors on their graduation. Incidentally, Kim Dongwan picked out the letter and read it.Younha said, "I was a faithful listener of Ten Ten Club, and I still recorded on tape the moment he read out my letter." Kim Dongwan was surprised at her revelation, and continued to share more experiences from his stint as a radio DJ.

Post Movie Review
my personal viewpoint after watching this film

First of all, the one reason to watch this film is the cast. The star studded cast is the reason why i decided to watch this show. Haha..

Song Seung Heon is the very well known korean actor who gained fame frm his 2000 drama, 秋天的童话, tghter with Song Hye Gyo. Anyway, he, tgher with Kwon Sang Woo (Stairway to Heaven) put on a very fine performance in this film.

Unlike his previous shows, Kwon portrays a friend and boss you would never want, but a caring brother who you would definitely want. Though his character is a tough headed, arrogant and unloyal lad, he is still a brother who take cares of his sister's well-being.

Song on the other hand, portrays a very caring friend who cares for his drug-addicted mate (Kim), but a son who cannot express his feelings to his mother well.

Those two actors did extremely well tgher, and truly showed their acting capabilities in the most positive manner as possible. ( Although both Song and Kwon utter a lot of rude words during the show )

Also, the usually nerdy (or maybe simple) looking Kim In Kwon turned 180 degrees and became a punk-looking gangster with those dreaded hair (though he cut it during the show).

And of course, my all-time favourite Park Han Byul (Couple or Trouble 梦幻青绿; Freeze). This film has successfully become a platform for her to showcast her versatility in character playing. In her previous films, such as ''Couple or Trouble'', her roles had been those ''young-girl'' ones. However in this film, she has ''grown'' to be a mature lady, and her performance isn't bad at all, though she has little screen time as compared to the previous 3 actors.

Although she has lost her cuteness somehow in this film, her prettiness and charm are retained, added by a spark or maturity.

Being my favourite actress, it's no doubt I think she did very well for her role. Hope to see her more this year, after missing for quite some time. =/

Ok, enough of the casts. Now the content.

Though full of violence and blood ( esp. kwon sang woo, with his violent character), this film isn't draggy, unlike most movies, and the progression throughout the film is fine, which means viewers shouldn't have any problem catching balls during the course of this show.

BUT. BUT, those who thinks violence and blood and a little expletives are too much for you, this is NOT a film for you. lol.

Rest assure the content is ''generally'' healthy, depending on your definition of ''healthy''.

This film tells a story of a group of friends who went through thick and thin together. However, greed and selfishness stepped in and tore this group apart.
Although some of them reunited, they started turning against each other..

Twists after twists, fantastic buliding up, however wrapped up by a rather controversial ending ( some think it's necessary, with others think it's definitely not how they want it to turn out )

Morale of this story,
Sometimes, the person with least threat and the one being a neutral can turn out to be the demon of evil plans..

SYNOPSIS

In the dark criminal world of Seoul, Woo-min (Song Seung Heon), Cheol-jung (Kwon Sang Woo), Do Wan (Kim In-kwon) and Jeong Hak (Ji Sung) are close friends in a gang.

One day, with the help of an older member Gang-seop (Ahn Nae-seong), Woo min, Cheol-jung and Do-wan attack the gang's casino so they can start new lives. But their plan goes awry when Cheol-jung betrays them, and U-min goes to prison. He becomes the scapegoat to save his friends' lives.

After serving his time, U-min wants to stay out of trouble but is drawn back into the underworld when he sees what has become of his friends: money and power-hungry Cheol-jung continues to betray others as he climbs up the gang ladder; Do-wan is a drug user; Gang-seop is missing; and his girlfriend Eun-yeong (Park Han-byul) has left him to run a bar as the boss' mistress.

As U-min tries to solve the situation, however, unfortunate twists of fate set off one misunderstanding after another. To make matters worse, the mob boss and right-hand man Yoeng-hwan get them involved in a huge drug deal.

Once again thrown into a game with high stakes and big cash, the once best friends must fight one another for their lives.

there is a very big question mark to the citizens of china:
Why so many schools collasped?

indeed, that's a very serious problem in the country right now, after photos of schools smashing to smithereens while surrounding buildings appeared unscathed.

some survivors blame corrupted gov't, shoddy construction and cost cutting for the collapse of so many 'tofu buildings'.

well, is not that i'm talking baseless on any evidence.

in the newpaper the day before ytd, the saturday issue.
reports showed evidence of the modern yet 'lembek' bulidings.

one of the dead victim's parent was truly puzzled why their 1970-bulit apartment managed to remain standing still, appearing perfectly unscathed (take note that a photo of a flower pot undamaged, still standing on the ledge after the quake, were reportedly taken ), while ironically, the 2000s built schools collasped in the matter of seconds.

well, this quake has surely woken the chinese gov't up.

Derby is reportedly interested in signing Persija Jakarta's forward Bambang Pamungkas(right) as they prepare for next season in the Championship. Derby boss Paul Jewell has already told impressive Argentinian forward Emanuel Villa there is a future for him at the club, but wants to add an experienced attacker to play alongside him.

Choral Concert, Victoria Concert Hall

8 April, Tuesday, 7.30pm

it's been a week since our wonderful concert..

and here's my post regarding it, finally. lol

2.40pm

the whole preparation started at 2.40pm, where we all assembled in the atrium, guys all changed up.

and gdness me, i didn't bring my socks & my belt. and i was panicking throughout the bus trip from school to VCH. oh well, but, in the end, all thanks to seng chueng. lol. with his socks.

3.30+pm

once there, we saw SAChoir inside the theatre's lobby.
anw, we all went into the concert hall, left our stuffs along the corridor and proceeded to our COMBINED REHEARSAL.

4.30+pm

after the combined rehearsal, CJChoir took on the stage rehearsed their 5 pieces.
then SAChoir, before DmnChoir.

6.45+pm

everybody were excited and busy checking themselves against mirrors and of course me, who took this time to wax my hair, as i couldn't find any extra time to wax before that. haha.

7.25pm

Me, Bryan, Kok, Jerrold, Hanwen, Quan Feng, Eugene, Georgina, Iris, KangQi and Tracy lined up at the backstage, getting ready to walk in for our "Announcement". a piece to remind everyone is the hall to swtch off the mobile phones. lol. and while other Dmnchorister ate their dinner, we had to sing with empty stomachs..=(

once we stepped in, screams started flying in. haha. but the place was so noisy, i doubt many heard we sing. except for the "DO IT NOW" part. after finishing the piece, we all got mixed up of where to exit, but well, it didn't matter i think. lol. cos many thought we did it on purpose=p

once we walk out, the emcee(i wonder who tt person is too) took over and officially begin our concert.

7.30pm+ - Concert Commence

the concert kicked off with SAChoir's 5 pieces..namingly

i only manage to hear the 1st and the last piece during the rehearsal, and i like the Sister Act Medley! it was fantastic. haha. WELL DONE=)

while they performed, the ''announcement'' grp went to eat our dinner. (finally! =D) haha. while the girls put on their make-ups.

next up was CJChoir, with their pieces

Plenty Good Room is a very familiar piece, with SAChoir & RI Voices performing it before.

right after the intermission was our turn! woo..very excited. for all the hardwork we've put in, that was the day. and it's gonna be my, and other sec4s and 5s', swan song, and my last appearance for Dmnchoir..=(

i really feel that time really pass so fast. i felt as though the day before was my sec1 audition day. and so quickly, i'm alr stepping down. but no matter, the sec4s and 5s vowed to put on a wonderful performance to mark our departure.

we went on the stage, and waited for mr toh to get on stage.

the first was nice, with the adult choir (the hummings) imitationg the orchestra. the song is actually depicting a scene when a group of kids sang the song when springtime arrived.

the second was brilliant, i think. haha.

though some commented that i was a little bit too soft. but overall, the piece is still wonderful. and i really love the song very much. not that bcos i get to sing the part, but bcos the song is really really very nice. lol =D

well, after we completed, we had an encore piece to wrap up the wonderful night,

irish blessing is a very touching piece, and if u scroll down, u can actually see the song's lyrics.

the song is totally appropriate as the sec4s and 5s are graduating. hai..:(

anyway,

after the song. we had a appreciation time, where the various choirs present they token of appreciation for mr toh and the various teachers.

for dmnchoir, we got mr toh a bouquet of flowers and a bunch of bananas..erhemm..yes bananas. lol. well, that was meant to be a joke, we also got him something more proper - a box of chocolate. haha

eduardo, a brazilian-borned croatian, moved to arsenal in july 2007.
not even a complete season, he alr suffered the worst injury a football can get.
his left leg, dubbed the 'golden left leg', for his pin-point left footers and shots, can no longer do the same, as he broke his 'golden leg'.

the culprit, a 'bus 3rd' frm birmingham city, smiled after he tackled eduardo.

his tackle was atrocious, not a footballer's tackle at all, it was at the same time lagging, and high.

was supposed to post ytd, the last day of 2007. but had completely forgotten!
aye.
its 2008 now!

okay.
this is what i wanted to write ytd.
as we're reaching the end of the year, there are plenty things to reflect and think about.
well, God has done many things for me throughout this tough 2007..

situations and difficults swing and smash me around,
but He gave me strength not to give up and bounce back unscathed.

people attacked and lash at me,
but He gave me patience, and a willing heart to change and reflect.

completely struggling in the first term of the year,
but He gave me wisdom and allow me to bounce back in studies, though not very good.

various setbacks came into my life,
He gave me mental strength to face-off those setbacks.

even when i failed him,
He picks me up again and forgive me.

He made me believe in ways that cannot be seen,
because He can make a way where there seems to be no way.

He works in ways we cannot see at all.

it is completely impossible to list all the things He provided me and things He had done for me.
though i wrote 'give' in past tense,
there is never past tenses for God's gift.
He provides and protects.
all the time.
He gives and gives.
forever.
and He will never ever forsake us.

so praise the LORD for letting me survive through this 2007.
which might have easily bring me down to my knees and surrender.
but with Him,
i am still standing tall after the things that have happened.

just came back from europe 3 days ago..

well, our trip began when we flew from changi airport to istanbul airport on 3rd dec.
the flight took 13 hours..
long har..

then, from there, we took another 2 hours flight to vienna, before transferring immediately to Cesky Krumlov, a small and lovely town (it's seriously brilliant, especially at night), near the Czech-Austria border.

stayed in Hotel Old Inn, quite a luxurious one, but my room is far from that..
no, no, not that is old or anything, but it looks quite frightening.
the structure, is different from other rooms.

we had intensive practices there in Cesky, and then transferred to Bratislava, Slovakia on the third day.

there, our competition venue, we stayed in Hotel Astra, bearing much similarity to Hotel Opatov in Prague (the one we had two years ago), had practices in the lobby, attracting many passer-bys and other choristers to view.

that very evening we reached Bratislava, we hurried to the chapel in the Old Town Square for the opening ceremony, where we were invited to perform. we were the first choir to sing, and the ceremony lasted for about an hour.

here's a pic of 3 girls from some slovakian choir we saw at the opening ceremony, and the competition day..

the next day was our competition, and our slot is at 11am.

practised in the morning before setting off for the Mirror Hall, in the Primates Palace, Bratislava.

we had to memorize that..
okay anyway..

after the competiton, we were free to roam for 3 hours!

the guys, who hid our cravings for coke by naming it luohanguo, chionged to the mac and ate like mad men

well, that was just exageration..lolz.
quan feng ate two up-sized meals! lolz.! a truely hungry man..

took the results the next day..
and we got a GOLD!

92.8/100. quite a fairly good score..

came in 2nd for our U-16 choir category..
with the winner of the category coming from czech republic, with a score of 93.3/100
woo..so so close..

well, the winner of the whole competition is from sweden, also the winner of the chamber choirs category, and the winner of overall best performance.

their performance was indeed breathatking..and here's a picture of the young conductor who attracted many many girls throughout the festival, including our choir girls..lolz..

and his choir..well, they sounded more like accapella group, though.

met this fella from a spanish choir. super tall, and i'm not kidding.

well, he did the right thing, which was to stand right at the back, in order not to block anyone.

well, i circled him in the picture. that's him talking to us, while his choir is celebrating their SILVER AWARD.

met Methodist Girls after the result show and before the gala concert outside the chapel, and congrats for getting SILVER! well, their performance wasn't a bad one..

okay, anyway. let's carry on..

lolz..stayed in bratislava for the last night where my room got punished for being late.. (due to MTV, =x). then transferred to Vienna, Austria.

there, we stayed in small but luxurious Hotel Savoy.

the bedroom is very nice, thus a pity to only stay for a night..
check out my future posts for all the pictures i took. 770 of them. lolz. including my hotel rooms..

yea, anyway, watched the opera on the second last day..it was split into 3 parts. 1.5 hours for the first part, and the last 45 minutes.
survived for the first two, but went down on the last..it would have been much better if there was a translation or anything..

well, went back to our hotel after that..
and had our quiz! lolz.
20 ques all together to be asked by each group..

and the least scoring group (groups are poco a poco, animato, sforzando and piu mosso) will not be able to stay up the last night..

in the end, PMS (piu mosso) scored 4 points, while my group, PAP (poco a poco) scored 17. animato topped with 27 and SFZ finished 2nd.. all of the PMS members had to sleep while the rest can have our night activities..

but..

it turned out to be a blessing in disguise for them..cos we received complains and 99% of those who stayed up were grounded from shopping the last day.

tough luck..

anyway..went to airport at 2pm euro time and reach changi airport at 4pm s'pore time, aftre transitting in istanbul. so that's the end of our trip.
